In a circular economy we are increasingly using recycled membranes, recyclable materials and bio materials. New production technology will enable us to increase the recycled content of our material from less than 10% to up to almost 40%.

As well as the metal being recyclable, the PVC membranes can be easily separated and reused or recycled after use.

BMI had a large quantity of old, decommissioned computers and devices taking up much-needed space across the EU. These units were either dated or damaged and no longer fit for business use.

With the help of Telefónica Tech’s service, 600 units have been reused and resold, with a further 3,000 units set to be processed over the next two years. This initiative will reduce CO₂ emissions by one million kilograms and save six kilograms of e-waste from being sent to landfill over the next two years*

Globally, humans buy a million plastic bottles every minute, 91% of which are not recycled. BMI works with a number of suppliers who use recycled materials, which enables us to substantially increase the amount of recycled materials in our membrane production and reduce the use of new plastic.

Our clay plant in Marseille had 6,000 pallets of non-compliant tiles taking up much-needed space. Sorting the pallets was difficult and expensive as the plastic, wood and tiles had to be seperated.

The plant hired a company that manufactures green roofs to ensure the scrap was sorted responsibly, and then used in the construction of their green roof products, ensuring no waste material went to landfill.
