Change 100 is the UK flagship work placement programme designed to remove barriers experienced by those with disabilities/conditions that affect their capabilities in the workplace.

By providing education around maintaining, repairing and cleaning roofs we can extend their lifespan; while working with our installation partners means old PVC membranes are removed and returned for recycling, reducing waste going to landfill.

In addition, the Richardson Sales Training programme was developed to enhance sales capabilities and is underway across six countries, with a further six countries due to launch before the end of 2023.

Based in the UK and Germany covering pitched roofing products and systems, the task of the Concrete & Surface Technology team is the development of new materials and processes for concrete tiles and concrete tile surfaces.

Roofer trainers and employees in sales and application engineering go onto unsecured roofs regularly for consulting purposes, damage inspection or to train customers. For their safety, each year they must take H&S training dedicated to ‘Working at Height’.

During this training they are updated on current legislation, their Personal Safety Equipment (PSE), and learn about any potential dangers. The BMI Academy has roof models for the practical part of the training, which is supervised by our D-A-CH H&S Department.

Using playing cards, the collaborative Climate Fresk workshop teaches small groups of colleagues the fundamental science behind climate change and empowers participants to take action.

Incorporating theory and practicals, the joint partnership between BMI Coverland in South Africa and Sisekelo Institute of Business and Technology, an accredited training institution to identify and support learners living with disabilities, is running its third intake.

On successful completion, learners are awarded Business Analyst certification. The program is identified as critical by the South African Sector Education and Training Authority (SETA).

With 360º training and certification, BMI Specification Teams promote RoofPro Members as preferred installers for our solutions.

These colleges and training groups represent over 300 roofing apprentices per year, some of whom take part in our Apprentice of the Year competition, competing in either the flat or pitched roofing section.

Annual UK roofing competition for young roofing apprentices to compete for one of two titles - Apprentice of the Year for Flat or Pitched Roofing.

The graduates involved in the programme had already gained university degrees in Analytical Chemistry, Electrical Engineering or Marketing, and two were employed by BMI Coverland on completing their course.
